Hosea 3

So there was this guy, Hosea, who was married to this gal, Gomer. Hosea loved his wife quite a bit; they even had a few kids.

One day, Hosea learned that his wife had cheated on him. This upset Hosea. He knew that he had to win back his bride’s heart, so he went out and bought this really nice dress that he knew has wife had wanted and took it to her. He told her “I want to spend my life with you. I only ask that you love and respect me, just as I love and respect you.”

So Hosea and Gomer patched things up, and life was good. For a time.

Not too long after this had passed, Hosea found out that Gomer had cheated on him again. This really hurt Hosea, but he knew he had to win back his wife’s heart. He bought her a beautiful diamond ring. He told her “I want to spend my life with you. I only ask that you love and respect me, just as I love and respect you.”

So Hosea and Gomer patched things up, and life was good. For a time.

Shortly after all this had passed, Hosea found out that his love had cheated on him again. Hosea felt horrible. He was determined to win his wife’s heart back. He took her on this extravagant cruise. He told her “I want to spend my life with you. I only ask that you love and respect me, just as I love and respect you.”

God is like Hosea, and we are all too often like Gomer. No matter how many times we turn away from him, He’s always there, ready to woo us back.
